Withings Activite

Withings makes some great fitness technology. The Withings Smart Body Analyzer is top of the tree when it comes to smart scales, while the Withings Pulse is still one of the best and most innovative activity trackers you can buy. But now Withings is set to move the game on once more with the Activité.

The Withings Activité is a new activity tracker, but it looks very different to the devices you’re used to seeing gracing people’s wrists. You see, while most activity trackers are simple wrist bands that hide the clever accelerometers and wireless transmitters, the Activité is a wristwatch.

As you can see from the photo, the Activité looks great, and so it should, given that Withings contracted a Swiss watchmaker to design and build the Activité. So, if you’re like me and love the look and feel of an analogue timepiece, the Activité could be the activity tracker you’re been waiting for.

As well as looking beautiful, the Activité will track you when walking, running and even swimming – it’s waterproof to 50m. There’s no word on whether the Activité will track cycling, but there is footage of someone cycling in the slightly cringe worthy video on the Withings site.

And of course, the Activité will track your sleep too, giving you wrap around monitoring. The watch will even wake you in the morning with a vibrating alert, so as not to disturb anyone sleeping next to you. It will also automatically detect when you’re up and about and switch from sleep mode to waking state.

The Activité will sync with an iOS device using Bluetooth 4.0 and the Withings Health Mate app. Withings has a great ecosystem whereby all its devices sync with Health Mate, giving you a comprehensive picture of your health .

The Withings Activité will be available in August with a price tag of £320. That might seem expensive for an activity tracker, but it’s pretty reasonable for a Swiss made watch that also happens to be an activity tracker.

I’ll be reviewing the Withings Activité as soon as I can get my paws on a sample, so check back later in the summer for a full review.
