Fitbit Force

Fitbit has launched its second wrist-worn activity tracker, the Fitbit Force. Unlike its predecessor the Flex, the new Fitbit Force has an on board display that can give you activity updates during the day.

The Fitbit Force gives you realtime information about steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, active minutes and floors climbed. Force also monitors your sleep and can wake you with a silent alarm. It adds in the ability to act as a watch.

As an added extra Fitbit Force has built in Bluetooth 4 so it can synchronise with an increasing number of mobiles phones. it also has built in Near Field Communications. Touch it to an Android phones with NFC and the accompanying app will automatically launch. Oh, and Fitbit Flex will be able to provide incoming call notifications in the near future too.

The basics have not been forgotten in all of this, and Fitbit Force wirelessly synchronises its recorded data to an online dashboard so you can review performance over time. It is water resistant, and has a battery life of 7-10 days.

Fitbit Force is available in grey and black, and comes in two sizes.

It is only available in the US at present, where it costs $129.95. We are awaiting the UK launch, and a sample to put through its paces.
