Polar has announced a new sports fitness computer, the Polar RCX5.
Designed for the multisport and triathlon enthusiast the base model comes in at €289.90 with specialist models for running and cycling. The Polar RCX5 comes with several new features.
The ZoneOptimizer feature adjusts your personal heart rate zones for training sessions depending on your physiological condition.
Race Pace lets you set a target time for a certain distance and then monitors your progress towards the target showing whether you are ahead or behind the target at any given time.
Sports Profiles let you switch between training modes with just a few button presses, detecting sensors automatically. This should make it easy to switch between bike and run modes, for example.
Polar has also launched new sensors. The G5 GPS sensor weighs just 34g and can gather route data for you to see online at www.polarpersonaltrainer.com. It comes with a soft armband and can be charged via miniUSB.
The S3+ stride sensor has a new shoe attachment which helps with more accurate pace and distance measurement. It is shock and water resistant. It can calculate running cadence and average stride length.
We are keen to try the Polar RCX5 for ourselves, and Polar is going to send us one as soon as possible.
