Those who like listening to music while they exercise have plenty of choice already, but this new offering from Sony might be of interest. It is a water resistant, wire free, lightweight MP3 player, the latest addition to the W range of Walkman portable audio devices.

The Walkman NWZ-W260 is 25 percent lighter than its predecessor. It is capable of providing up to 8 hours of music and Sony says it will give you an impressive 60 minutes of music from a three minute charge. That means if you charge it while you are getting changed it should see you through your regime.

It packs all its needs in over the ear sections so you don’t need to worry about cables dragging from earphones to player.

Most importantly, perhaps, the Walkman NWZ-W260 is water resistant, and Sony says it’ll survive the post exercise shower too. Though the small print is interesting. We quote: “Not meant to be immersed or come into continuous contact with water,” and “Avoid contact with shampoo, conditioner, face wash and soap. Do not use with high pressure showers.”

The Walkman NWZ-W260 will be available from the end of July, and of course, Sony is going to send us one so we can review it.
